Aberdeen Airport Taxis
Taxis at the airport are operated by Rainbow Airport Taxis. They
are situated on the forecourt in front of the terminal building.
The taxis are metered but be sure to try and agree a price before
starting your journey. Sample fare prices are available from the Airport information desk, but a taxi ride to the city centre will cost approximately £18.
If you require transport that will accommodate a wheelchair then you should pre-book the taxi and can contact Rainbow Airport Taxis online for a quote at www.rainbow87.com or telephone 0044 (0)1224 725500 or 725728
Rainbow City Taxis has one of Scotland's largest Hackney Taxi Fleets with 290 vehicles and controls five of Aberdeen's best known taxi telephone numbers from their call centre in the city centre.
Taxis at Aberdeen Airport
Taxis are widely available from a number of ranks dotted around the Aberdeen City centre. The main ranks are located on Back Wynd, Market Street and at the railway station, with more located further up Union Street.
Taxis can be difficult to come by at night due to a shortage of them (ranks are patrolled by marshals at night on special nights) and can actually be difficult to flag down on the street as many drivers do not give any indication if they are available for hire and will often not pick up groups of males.
Aberdeen Airport Taxis Useful Information
A taxi driver is not required to take you on a journey ending outside the city boundary. Typical destinations in the city include Aberdeen Airport, Bridge of Don, Cove, Dyce, Kingswells and Peterculter. Outside the city are Banchory, Blackburn, Ellon, Kemnay, Kintore,Inverurie, Oldmeldrum, Portlethen, Stonehaven and Westhill.
If the driver does agree to take you outside the city maximum fares do not apply and it is up to you to reach agreement with the driver on the fare which you should do before you start.
If you are in a Private Hire Car (red plate), you should agree the fare with the driver or their office before your journey starts. If the private hire car is fitted with a meter you could agree that the fare will be calculated using the meter
When you get in the taxi, the driver will press the “Hire” button on the meter. which will then show an initial fare amount (referred to as the “Flag fall”) which has been programmed into the meter in accordance with the approved tariff.
If you have booked a taxi to arrive at a particular time and keep it waiting, the driver can start the meter running once he has made his presence known to you and you can be charged at the maximum Waiting Time Rate shown on the Tariff.
The driver can then press the extras button for the following:
-
For each hiring booked by telephone: £0.50
-
For each hiring commencing at the Airport for taxis zoned to operate there: £1.00
-
For every passenger over and above four: £0.50 each
