George Best Belfast City Airport

The airport has a single runway operation, and is situated in East Belfast which is only 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) from Belfast City Centre. The airport was formerly known as Belfast City Airport until it was renamed in memory of the famous footballer George Best in 2006.

The George Best Belfast City Airport is located on the A2 Sydenham bypass road between Belfast and Holywood, on the southern shore of Belfast Lough. Those approaching Belfast on the M1 or M2, should follow the signs to Belfast City Airport, leading to the A2 via the M3

There is a newly-revamped departure lounge at Belfast George Best airport which is part of the airport's £6m refurbishment of its terminal building. The floor space of the lounge has been extended to cope with the rising number of passengers passing through the airport.

The departures area and check-in is situated on the ground floor of the airport.  The check-in is immediately to your left on entrance to the airport.  Once through security there is access to the first floor departures lounge and conference centre. There is a taxi rank directly outside the airport terminal building which is operated by the approved taxi company of the airport. There are two services from the airport to Belfast City Centre and Londonderry where you can make connections to the rest of Northern Ireland and train connections to Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Check our buses at George Best Airport for full details and timetables.

There are two car parks at the airport and a drop off and pick up zone.  The Short Stay Car Park is ideal for up to 24 hours.  After this use the Main Car Park/Long Stay.  Pick up and drop off must be done as quickly as possible as space is very limited.
