Birmingham
International Airport is located 10.2 km east of Birmingham in Solihull. It is the sixth busiest airport in the UK after the four London airports Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted and Manchester International Airport, handling over ten million passengers a year
The airport has published a master plan for its development up until 2030, and the first major element is an extension to the main runway to be completed in time for the 2012 London Olympics
Birmingham Airport is easily accessible with the motorway network close by and is located approximately one mile from Junction 6 of the M42. From here there are direct links to M6, M5, M40, M1 and the new M6 Toll Road. The airport is clearly signposted.
Birmingham Airport Car Hire
Six
car hire companies operate from Birmingham Airport. These are Avis,
Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National. They are situated
in the Millenium Link Walkway which connects both terminals. They

Birmingham Airport Transfers
.You can get to and from Birmingham Airport by a variety of methods including Private Birmingham Airport Transfers. With a Private Transfer you would be met in the arrivals hall by your own driver who will then take you on to your chosen destination.
Birmingham Airport Flights
You
can fly to most European cities from Birmingham International, both
scheduled and charter (charter flights are the ones where you book
your package holiday, although some do offer flights only).

Birmingham Airport Arrivals
It
will take you approximately 45 minutes from landing to getting through
to the arrivals
area. For car hire head for the Millennium Walk Way (it is well
signposted). There is a Spar shop in the arrivals area if you require any grocery
essentials.
An ATM cash machine is available and the bureau de change is always open during flight times. There are designated smoking areas in the arrivals area which are well signposted.
Birmingham Airport Departures
There
are two check-in areas at the airport (terminal 1 and terminal 2)
so make sure you know which terminal you are departing from. There
are 86 check in desks in total and 31 gates at Birmingham Airport. Remember that for International flights the check in time is 2
hours prior to your flight time and for domestic flights (within
the UK) it is just 1 hour.
For both terminals the check-in desks are on the ground floor of the main concourse and the departure lounges are on the first floor.
There are some shops and cafe bars in this area but the majority of them are in the Departures Lounge once you go through passport control and security. Bureau de Change and ATM´s are also available.
Birmingham Airport Taxis
Normally,
there are plenty of Black Cabs at the official taxi rank which is
immediately outside the passenger terminals. Black Cabs carry up
to 5 people with luggage. They can take wheelchairs and operate
a 24 hour service.
Black Cabs is the only company at the airport that is licensed to operate without prior bookings. The journey to Birmingham City Centre will cost you about 16 pounds. Birmingham Airport Buses
There
is an excellent bus and coach service from the airport to local
areas and National Express operates a service to other parts of
the country and other airports.
The buses leave from opposite Terminal 2 (Bus and Coach Terminus). Note that there are no overnight services but there are services from early morning until late at night. Full details of bus timetables and routes are available here.
Birmingham Airport Trains
Although
there isn´t a train station at the airport, Birmingham International
train station is a two minute journey away by a free shuttle (Air
Link) service which runs every two minutes. From here there are
connections to the National Exhibition Centre and New Street Train
Station which is in the centre of Birmingham. Check out our trains

Birmingham Airport Parking
There
are several options for parking at the car parks which are operated
by NCP . there is short stay, multi-storey, long stay and VIP car
parking. You cannot book the short stay car park but you can book
the other two. The long stay car park is the farthest away but this
is serviced by a regular shuttle bus service which will drop you
and pick you up from the terminal buildings.

Birmingham Airport Shops
For
a medium sized airport Birmingham has plenty of shops to choose
from. There are most items you would need for your journey and holiday.
The only thing you can´t buy in the airport are clothes, although
there is a shoe shop and the Tie Rack Shop does sometimes have shirts

There
are a wide range of places to eat and drink in the airport, from
snacks and burgers to something more substantial and upmarket. The
