Taxis at East Midlands Airport
If you wish to take a taxi from the airport there are no black cab type ones at the airport, so you can´t just walk out of arrivals and hop into a taxi.
The taxi service at the airport is operated by Checker Cars and they have an office just outside arrivals, opposite the Information desk. The arrivals area is only small, so it´s not difficult to see. It has a large blue and white sign above the counter. You need to go to the desk and book your taxi. Normally, there is no waiting unless they are extremely busy.
Checker Cars operate 24 hours/7 days a week, so there is always a taxi available.

Do remember that if you decide to take a taxi, that a taxi can only take 4 passengers. this includes a child (no matter what age) as one passenger. If there are more than 4 travelling and you all want to travel together, then you will need to book an MPV (people carrier) type of vehicle which can normally carry 6 people
