London City is a single runway airport located on a former Docklands site in Newham in East London. It is at its busiest during the winter months, when a rise in passengers is due to flights to various winter sports and ski resorts.

London City Airport is small compared to the other four London airports, allowing travellers to benefit from quick turnarounds and a short pier, enabling passengers to check-in as little as 15 minutes before takeoff.

London City Airport has what is believed to be the closest private jet centre to Central London, and because the London Olympics will be held less than 20 miles away, plans are currently being made to redevelop London City Airport to cope with the increased passenger traffic.

There are three of the major car hire companies located at the airport: Avis at London City Airport - Europcar at London City Airport - Hertz at London City Airport  Their desks are situated on the main concourse on the ground floor. You can get to and from London City Airport by a variety of methods including Private London City Airport Transfers. With a Private Transfer you would be met in the arrivals hall by your own driver who will then take you on to your chosen destination.

The taxi rank is directly outside the terminal building and is licensed by the Council.  The cabs are the black cab types, so will have wheelchair access.  There is no need to book as taxis are always available.
