LHR - London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4
The official meeting point at Heathrow Terminal 4 is next to the BAA information desk in arrivals, on the ground floor of the building, and is clearly signed.
In the arrivals area, information screens display live flight status information. The status message may be:
- Expected: The flight hasn't landed yet and you have got time time for a coffee
- Landed: Allow between 30-40 minutes after landing for passengers to clear passport control, baggage reclaim and customs. This can take longer during busy periods
- Baggage in hall: Passengers should be in the arrivals area shortly.
Arrivals at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4
Terminal 4 arrivals area is located on the ground floor. European and Long haul flights land at Terminal 4 mainly operated by KLM and British Airways and their partners.
However, if you are transfer to or from terminal 4 to the other 3 terminals you will have to use the Heathrow Express Train which is free and takes around 8 minutes to travel to the other terminals.
Departures at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4
When you arrive at Terminal 4 you will need to go to the first floor for check in. European and Long haul flights depart from Terminal 4 mainly by KLM and British Airways and their partners
Remember to allow plenty of time to check in as there will probably be long queues, particularly during busy periods such as summer holidays and Bank Holidays.
The general rule for checking in is:
UK and Ireland flights, check in 90 minutes prior to departure
European flights, check in 2 hours prior to departure
Long haul destinations, including El Al passengers, check in 3 hours prior to departure
You do have the option of self service check in at the airport and also on line check in.
This saves lots of time queuing, although you still may have to queue for a short while at the baggage drop desk.
Shopping in Terminal 4
There are plenty of places to do some last minute shopping for your holiday, purchase some books or magazines for your journey or buy some duty free goods at all four of the Heathrow terminals.
