Luton Airport departuresAs you enter the Terminal Building (there is only one at the airport), the check in desks (there are around 60) are immediately in front of you and run the length of the terminal building.

Departures at London Luton Airport

Remember the check in times:

  • UK and Ireland flights, check in one hour before your flight time
  • European Flights, check in two hours before your flight time
  • Long haul flights, check in three hours before your flight time.

Boarding your flight is normally 45 minutes before your flight time.  Remember to keep an eye on the monitors as announcements telling you to go to the gate are no longer in use.

Prior to going through security and into the Departures Lounge there is a good range of shops, bars and restaurants available and open to those not travelling.  These include travel exchange if you need to change any money and also ATM cash dispensing machines.

If you need to leave or store your luggage this is available in the check in area next to the Outsize Baggage.  It is open 24 hours/7 days a week.  There is a charge for left items starting at £4.

If you wish to use your laptop and pick up Wi Fi this is now available at the airport in the check in area, public seating areas and bars and restaurants, operated by BTOpenzone.

For those who are not Wi Fi compatible or are not travelling with a laptop, use Spectrum Interactive which is in the check in area.  You can check email, use the web and play games.  Payment is by Sterling, Euro coins and major credit cards.

Baby care rooms are available in this area for nappy changing etc.

Post boxes and postal facilities are in the departures area and in the Departures Lounge there is a post box only.

For those who require special assistance there is a waiting area at the check in area entrance doors.

Executive Lounges at London Luton Airport

If you require a quiet relaxing start to your holiday or business trip then you may wish to use the Aviance Executive Lounge at the airport, which is in Departures, once through Security in between Boots and Claire's Accessories.

The lounge offers the usual comfortable surroundings, plus complimentary drinks, snacks, newspapers etc. For the business traveller there are fax, pay telephones and free internet facilities. Opening times are from 05.30 to 22.30 and prices per person are around £18.95.

Children are not allowed in the lounge and there is a strict no smoking policy.  There is also disabled access to the lounge.

Disability Services at London Luton Airport

For those travelling who may have a disability the airport is well equipped with facilities for special assistance. 

There are special assistance telephones located around the terminal building.  The airport is wheelchair friend with lowered telephones etc.  You can use one of the airport wheelchairs free of charge.  Collect one from the entrance doors or at the side of check in.

Toilets that are both disabled and wheelchair friendly are located throughout the Terminal Building.

If you will require assistance boarding the aeroplane then you will need to make this known when you book your ticket and again when you check in.

In the Departures Lounge there is a special assistance waiting area, where you can wait prior to boarding the aircraft
